Move stock between branches
Raise, approve, dispatch and receive an inter-branch transfer so both ends of the movement stay accurate, including when less arrives than left.

Before you start
- Two active branches, each with a stock location
- Available stock at the source location
- Someone at the destination who can receive
Complete the workflow
- 1
Raise the transfer
Choose the source and destination locations and add the products and quantities. Source and destination must be in different branches; stock moving inside one branch is an adjustment, not a transfer.
- 2
Submit and approve
Approval is a separate permission and is what authorises the movement. Until then nothing has left the source.
- 3
Dispatch the goods
Dispatch records the stock physically leaving. The transfer is then in transit and its quantities belong to neither location's sellable stock.
- 4
Receive at the destination
Record what actually arrived rather than what was sent. Receiving everything closes the transfer; receiving less leaves it partially received.
- 5
Resolve the difference
A gap between dispatched and received quantities is the thing worth investigating. Settle it before closing, so the ledger shows where the stock went.
Useful tips
- Receive against the physical count, not the paperwork — a transfer that always balances is a transfer nobody is checking.
- Goods in transit are deliberately unavailable at both ends; that is the point of the state, not a bug.
Troubleshooting
The transfer will not dispatch
Confirm it has been approved and that the source location still holds the quantity; stock may have been sold or moved since approval.
It is stuck at partially received
Receive the outstanding quantity, or record the shortfall so the difference is explained and the transfer can close.
