- A return reason
- Manager approval when policy requires it
Complete the workflow
- 1
Find the sale
Search by sale or receipt number and confirm the customer, branch, date and original tenders.
- 2
Select return quantities
Choose only units still eligible for return and set RESTOCK, QUARANTINE, DAMAGED or WRITE-OFF disposition.
- 3
Approve and post
Policy decides whether the return posts immediately or waits for manager approval. Posted returns reverse revenue, tax, inventory and earned loyalty proportionally.
- 4
Allocate the refund
Refund against the original payment methods. Cash needs an open register; vouchers and loyalty restore internal value.
Useful tips
- A posted return and its refund are separate controlled events.
- Use quarantine when resale suitability is uncertain.
Troubleshooting
Refund exceeds the available amount
Review previous refunds and the amount actually paid; credit balances cannot be refunded as cash.
