Before you start
- A register assigned to the active branch
- Permission to operate or manage registers
Complete the workflow
- 1
Open the register
Select the physical till and enter the verified opening float. Only one active session should represent a cashier's physical cash drawer.
- 2
Record movements
Use cash-in and cash-out actions for controlled drawer movements that are not sales. Always provide a clear reason and reference.
- 3
Count physical cash
At closing, count each denomination and submit the physical total. The expected amount remains hidden until the count is committed where blind-count policy applies.
- 4
Close and review
Closing freezes the submitted count and calculates the variance. A manager records the investigation outcome rather than editing the original count.
Useful tips
- Do not share an open session between cashiers.
- Print the session report for the signed handover pack.
Troubleshooting
A register is already open
Check the register monitor for the active cashier. A manager must resolve or close the existing session.
