Before you start
- The report permission for the category you need
- Branch access covering the data you expect to see
Complete the workflow
- 1
Choose the category
Reports are grouped by category — sales, financial, inventory and employee — and each category is permissioned separately, so what you can open depends on your role.
- 2
Find the report
Each category lists the reports available to you with a description of what it answers. Search within the category rather than reading the whole list.
- 3
Scope it deliberately
Set the branch and the period before reading anything. Results also respect your own branch access, so a figure can be correct and still not be the business-wide total you assumed.
- 4
Know what it is drawn from
Inventory reports follow stock-ledger movements, while financial reports follow posted journals. Activity that has not been posted is genuinely absent from a financial report rather than missing.
- 5
Set the defaults
Report settings control the defaults applied when a report opens, which is worth agreeing once rather than re-scoping the same report every morning.
Useful tips
- A number missing from a financial report is usually unposted rather than lost — check the posting state before investigating the data.
- Branch access narrows every report. A business-wide total requires access to all branches, not just permission to run the report.
Troubleshooting
A report is empty
Check the period and your branch access before concluding there is no data; both silently narrow the result.
Two reports disagree
Confirm they cover the same branch and period, and check whether one follows posted journals while the other follows operational records.
